Day of Exam One Vibes
Learning Outcome Six
Explain what you have learned from being a novice in new writing situations, and describe how these experiences, which might include failure, contribute to your willingness to accept new challenges as a writer.
Habit of Mind Responsibility
Responsibility is the ability to take ownership of one’s actions and understand the consequences of those actions for oneself and others, and is fostered when writers are encouraged to recognize their own role in learning.
To Do List
**Class has been moved to an ONLINE version today. Complete the following ten minute warm up during our scheduled class time slot to receive participation for today!**
Ten Minute Warm Up
Today you have your first exam in A&P -- how are you feeling about it? Are you ready to take on this exam, or are you a little nervous? How did you prepare for the exam? Did you take notes and read over them? Did you do study activities or work with a group? Is there anything that you feel really helped you prepare for today? Is there anything that you wish you could have done differently? Reflect for a good ten minutes on your preparation for this exam.
Study, Study, Study!
For the rest of our time in class you have the freedom to study however you need to. And you can study here, or go somewhere else.
When you're in the last few hours before your first exam...

Homework
1. Give your brain a break -- it needs it!
2. Complete the "Post-Exam Reflection" and save in your OneDrive folder. Answer the following questions, and spend about 10 minutes reflecting on how the exam went. (Due Friday)
Now that you've completed the exam, how do you feel? Were you well prepared, or now do you realize that you weren't at all? What do you wish had gone differently now that you've taken the exam? As you prepare for exam 2, what's your game plan? Come up with a plan of how you're going to study and prepare for this exam, basing you plan off of what you did to prepare for the first exam.
3. Remember to complete Reading Response Four: Read Threshold Concept 1.1 and 1.2 in Naming What We Know and complete Reading Response Four. The writing prompts can be found below. This is a reflection, so it requires more that a simple listing of your thoughts. Complete your reflection in a word document, titled "NWWKReadingResponse4" in your OneDrive folder. (Due Friday)
Threshold Concept 1.1 discusses how writing can help us accumulate new knowledge, and in general help us become better thinkers. Do you agree or disagree? Why? Can you think of situations where writing has helped you with your thinking process? Share a few of those moments. They can be specific, or general.
Threshold Concept 1.2 discusses the need to create audiences in our heads when we are writing. Is that a difficult concept for you to grasp? Do you agree, or disagree? Why?
Find a connection between Threshold Concept 1.1 and/or 1.2 with another Threshold Concept that we have read so far. Explain the connection and how we can apply the two concepts together to strengthen our writing. Use textual evidence to help.
