To Do List
5 minute Prep Time
Skipping warm up time today to help you get ready for presentations. You have five minutes to meet with your group to wrap up your presentations and make sure you're all on the same page.
Things to keep in mind...
You need to include: summarize the section but IN YOUR OWN WORDS and discuss how the section connects to (1) the Naming What We Know threshold concepts, (2) your FYLP presentations, and (3) our overall goals as a class this semester -- think about the learning outcomes, key words, and habits of mind. Last thing I want you to discuss is how your group plans on successfully applying this framework to your future writing.
As always -- consider your genre, audience, and purpose!

ACRL Presentation Reflection
What did you learn through being a teacher and learner this week? What was benificial through this activity in helping you gain a better understanding of the ACRL Frameworks, and how they apply to what we are doing this semester? What was not helpful? You all successfully applied these frameworks to the symposium, so now I want you to think back on other work we have done this semester (About Me Blog, Reading Responses, Discovery Log, Warm Ups, Genre Scavenger Hunt, etc.), and reflect on how you can apply the frameworks to your other work. Don't just connect the dots, but remember to reflect and analyze the connections you're making. (Due Monday)
When your professor says you can't get your stuff together at the last minute...
Homework
The "Getting to Know You" Blog Post for this week is "Halloween". Make it uniquely you, that's your only requirement. Have fun! (Due Monday, November 6th)
Don't put off the prep work of your major project! The mock symposium is less than a month away! (Due Wednesday, November 15th)
Read Threshold Concepts 3.4 and 3.5 and complete the following Reading Response. Make sure you're fully answering the questions, using your own language, and using textual evidence to back up your argument. (Due Monday, November 6th)
Questions, comments, and overall concerns about this reading.
Threshold Concept 3.4 discusses how our writing impacts our professional identities. Do you agree or disagree with this claim? Why, or why not? How can we keep in mind this threshold concept, and apply it, when working on our projects for the symposium?
Threshold Concept 3.5 discusses the idea that we all have multiple identities and ideologies. Discuss how this threshold concept applies to your own life and reflect on a time when you experienced conflicting ideas and ideologies within yourself, or when you've witnessed it in someone else. How can this help us in our personal writing?
Keeping in mind the idea that our goal is to learn to successfully apply each of these threshold concepts into our lives as writers, connect 3.4 and 3.5 to one of our learning outcomes. How can you use these two threshold concepts to help you successfully achieve that learning outcome?
