When you count Friday as part of the weekend...
Habit of Mind Persistence
Persistence is fostered when writers are encouraged to commit to exploring, in writing, a topic, idea, or demanding task; and grapple with challenging ideas, texts, processes, or projects.
Learning Outcome Three
Demonstrate the ability to use your analyses of rhetorical situations to identify options and to make appropriate choices that will enable you to use writing to achieve specific purposes.
To Do List
10 Minute Warm Up
What's your research topic? What direction are you thinking about taking? Where are you hitting bumps and what are you struggling with? Do you find things easy or difficult? Are you enjoying the research you're doing? Why or why not
Group Discussion
Get into your designated groups and discuss your topics. You can share your warm ups with one another while also expanding. This is a good time to get ideas from others of what direction to take.
Introduction to the Proposal
Remember that we are creating THREE major writing projects this semester. The first one is your Getting to Know Me Project, and the third one is your combined with seminar FYLP Project & Presentation. The second project is what we will introduce today: a proposal for your FYLP Project & Presentation. For this proposal, you will be proposing to myself and Professor Crocker what you are wishing to focus on for your topic, AND how you plan on presenting it. (Your chosen genre). You can find a template to the proposal here.
Homework
Complete your "free prompt" for your Getting to Know You Project. Remember that for this week I'm giving you the freedom to choose what you write about.
Continue working on your research!
Read the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education. You can find the link to the reading here. Then complete the following reading response. Save the response in your folder as "ReadingResponse6".
Which of the 6 frameworks did you connect with the most? Why?
Which of the 6 frameworks do you struggle with the most? Why? How do you plan on working to strengthen this framework in your life this semester?
How do these 6 frameworks relate to our readings in Naming What We Know. Use textual evidence from both readings to help you strengthen your answer.
How do these 6 frameworks relate to your research you are working on for this course? How can they help you as you continue your research process?
