How Hogwarts celebrates Friday...

The willingness to consider new ways of being and thinking in the world, and is fostered when writers are encouraged to listen to and reflect on the ideas and responses of others—both peers and instructors—to their writing.

Learning Outcome Seven

To Do List

Peer Review

Get into your groups today and pull up your reflective overview and/or proposal. Determine who is going to look at what, and then follow these guidelines when working on peer reviewing one another.

When it comes to commenting versus conversation, you need to FIRST make comments while you are reading. Once you have made the necessary comments, THEN you can converse with the writer to make sure that none of your comments are miscommunicated.

TO HOLD ONTO COMMENTS SO YOU CAN USE THEM AS EVIDENCE FOR DRAFTING (Final Portfolio) AND GROUP WORK (Midterm Portfolio)...

After receiving comments on a draft -- HIGHLIGHT, COPY, and then PASTE your writing into a NEW word document and save it as a "second", "third", "fourth", etc. draft! This way you have the necessary evidence that you received comments from peers, and that you used their comments to help you in the rewriting process.

Remember to also screenshot the comments you leave on your peers' work so that you have evidence proving that you actually participated in peer review!

Things to Keep In Mind...

Remember to DISCUSS the three aspects of the rhetorical situation in the second section of the reflective overview!!

The Rhetorical Situation

  1. Audience

  2. Genre/How

  3. Purpose

The portfolio is due by the end of the day that Friday -- IF you need more time you MUST email me before then and I will give you an extension! But you can't wait till the last minute to ask for it.

The Midterm Portfolio consists of your Reflective Overview, a rough draft of your Proposal, an updated Discovery Log, and any evidence you reference in the Reflective Overview.

You can click here to download a word document version of the Midterm Reflective Overview Template.

You can find the grading rubric for the Midterm Portfolio here.
