10 minute Warm Up

Midterm Portfolio is due today! How do you feel? Are you ready and prepped? Did you give yourself enough time to finish, or did you put it off until the last minute? What is something you learned about yourself by completing the midterm portfolio? Do you feel that this helped you reflect upon your progress so far this semester? If you could change something about the instructions, requirements, and/or what is included in the midterm portfolio what would you change? Why?

Midterm Portfolio Drafting & Prepping

Things to Keep In Mind...

Remember to DISCUSS the three aspects of the rhetorical situation in the second section of the reflective overview!!

The Rhetorical Situation

  1. Audience

  2. Genre/How

  3. Purpose

The portfolio is due by the end of the day TODAY -- IF you need more time you MUST email me before then and I will give you an extension! But you can't wait till the last minute to ask for it.

The Midterm Portfolio consists of your Reflective Overview, a rough draft of your Proposal, an updated Discovery Log, and any evidence you reference in the Reflective Overview.

You can click here to download a word document version of the Midterm Reflective Overview Template.

You can find the grading rubric for the Midterm Portfolio here.

Homework

The "Getting to Know You" Blog Post for this week is an "Exam Vent". I want you to vent, complain, and rage upon college exams. This can be a discussion about how unfair it is that you have to take exams in college and what you think professors should do instead. Or it can be just a vent on how you're doing with your exams and your struggles. If you enjoy the exams, or recognize their value, then talk about that. (Due Monday, October 30th)

Finalize your Midterm Portfolio (Due TODAY)
